What's The Right Mascara For Me?!
I wouldn’t blame you if I heard you saying that you had no clue as to what mascara to buy! The beauty market is absolutely saturated with them making it a minefield to choose. ESPECIALLY now w'e’re doing all our beauty shopping online.
I know some people have stayed loyal to the same mascara for years, but if you’re anything like me, you’ll constantly be on the search for an even better mascara than the last one!
As a makeup artist, it’s part of my job to have a variety of mascara’s in my makeup kit to achieve different eye looks, but also as a mascara wearer who isn’t blessed in the eyelash department (they’re so fair and sometimes it feels as though I’ve only got about three on each eye!!) I would say I have lucrative experience when it comes to shopping for a good one!
So I’m going to run through some of some of my favourites! FYI this post contains affiliated links and I have included the price with and without the discount.
MAC In Extreme Dimension £21/£16.80
I’ve been a lover of this mascara since it launched while I was working as a MAC employee.
It ‘s plastic brush extracts lots of product from the bottle giving you a full-on dramatic effect, lengthening, thickening, curling….. it does it all!
It’s fair to say however, that if you eyelashes are like fine like mine, that you might struggle to apply this straight onto your natural lashes and is best applied on top of a lash primer ( see no.5 in the list!).
However, if you love that full effect, then this one is for you! P.S this ones in my personal makeup bag!
Lancome Hypnose Mascara £27.50/£22
This mascara has been around for years, and has a huge loyal customer base. Your mum has probably worn in at one time.
It’s a GOOD mascara, and one that I keep in my pro makeup kit. This is down to the fact that it’s great for all types of eyelashes and allows you to build up to the effect you want (without clumping).
It volumes and defines to create a fuller looking appearance without being “too much”.
MAC Extended Play Lash Mascara - Gigablack £16.50/£13.20
This is a great mascara, especially if your looking for something more natural. It defines and lengthens, and is even gently removed with warm water. The brush doesn’t overload with product, so perfect for us with minimal lashes!
I love this mascara especially for your bottom lashes, and for those hard to reach ones in the corner of your eye. It also is a great one for the gym as it’s humidity proof!
I use this one all the time for weddings as its got 16 hours wear and is perfect for those emotional moments!
Superhero Mascara IT Cosmetics £21
This is a banging mascara, and one that everybody needs to be introduced to at some point. I found out about it when I purchased some foundation from the brand and they gifted me with a sample.
Whether I haver my trusty mascara on or not, this one pulls out the stops.
It doesn’t clump (win), and curls and lengthens my lashes like magic.
MAC False Lashes Maximiser £16.50/£13.20
I mentioned this in my first recommendation. Every day prior to me applying my mascara, I build up this absolutely hero of a product. It’s a mascara primer that has a white consistency and conditions and enhances my natural lashes enabling them to curl and thicken.
I honestly don’t know what took me so long to try it, as I had one gifted to me sitting in my drawer for years. Whether your lashes are natural fine, or full and healthy looking, once you start using you too will ask yourself what took you so long to try it!
Here’s a tip! Make sure you give your lashes a good coat of your normal mascara after you have applied the primer to ensurethe white coating isn’t visible.
